Uplift’s “Light Up the Life of a Child” Campaign Delivers Essentials and Joy

This year, the "Light Up the Life of a Child" campaign raised an incredible RM 21,612, bringing warmth, hope, and essential care to vulnerable children in six homes in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Perak. For many of these children, these donations mean so much more than simply having enough food or clothes—they mean the chance to dream, to feel safe, and to believe in a brighter future.

Through the generosity of our donors, Uplift helped turn these dreams into reality for 229 children. Uplift provided more than just essentials; we have given hope, dignity, and joy to those who need it most. Thanks to your support, we reached six homes, each dedicated to creating a safe and loving environment for these children.

Over two days, our volunteers delivered food, household supplies, and little tokens of joy to each of these homes.

Rumah Hope: A sanctuary for children who have faced abuse, neglect, and the hardships of growing up without stable family support. These young lives, marked by struggles at such tender ages, find safety, structure, and compassion within the walls of Rumah Hope. We delivered essential items like rice, cooking oil, and other groceries—basic but vital supplies that keep the home running smoothly.

“Your help is God-sent. We were running low on rice and were desperately trying to source some when your delivery arrived just in time. You’ve truly answered our prayers.”
Nita, Administrative Executive at Rumah Hope
“Every child deserves to feel loved and safe. It’s incredibly moving to see their smiles and know that, even in some small way, we are helping them believe in a brighter tomorrow. Every little counts, and we are so grateful to our donors.”
Mithila Narendran, Uplift volunteer

Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary KL: A safe haven for orphans and children from broken or impoverished families, offering them a sense of family, guidance, and hope. Here, they are encouraged to focus on their education, develop friendships, and discover the joy of being part of a community that truly cares about their future.

Thanks to your contributions, we were able to deliver milk powder, rice, noodles, and hygiene products—essential items that make a world of difference in their daily lives. These supplies allow the children to go to school with full bellies, clean clothes, and confidence.

Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Selesa (The Comforter’s Hope): A unique and deeply compassionate home that opens its doors to both orphans and elderly individuals, creating a multigenerational family for those who have no one else to rely on. For the children, many of whom come from challenging backgrounds, and the elderly residents, who may have been left without family support, this home offers not only shelter but a place of belonging. We were able to provide essential food supplies and household items, easing the daily struggles faced by this community.

Stepping Stones Living Centre: This is home for children, distressed mothers, and elderly individuals who have nowhere else to turn. The essentials provided—such as food, cleaning supplies, and other day-to-day necessities—offer immediate relief to those living here, lightening the burden on the caregivers and allowing them to focus on nurturing each resident.

"BAC and Uplift have been pillars of support for us. You have been there year after year, reminding us that we are not alone.”
Pastor Johnson, Stepping Stones Living Centre

Rumah Kebajikan Anbu Illam: More than just a shelter; it is a nurturing home that instills structure, stability, and a sense of belonging in nearly 30 young boys from underprivileged backgrounds. Many of these boys come from difficult circumstances, but at Anbu Illam, they find a supportive environment where they are not only cared for but also encouraged to grow, learn, and dream.

We were able to deliver essentials like rice, noodles, and hygiene products, ensuring each boy has nutritious meals and a clean, safe environment.

“The smallest act of kindness can change a life. With each delivery, we are saying to these children, ‘You are important. You are loved. You are capable of great things.’”

Kumar Nagalingam, Uplift's Secretary and Head, HRD Academy (Training & Development)

Gurukkulam & Hostel Soorian Mykita, Ladang Kerling: This home is not only a shelter but a place where boys from difficult backgrounds can learn skills like agriculture, mechanics, and construction.

“Thanks to you, we can give these boys more than shelter—we can give them a future as they learn real-life skills here. Some of our boys have become champions in sports and other activities because of the confidence they’ve gained here. Your generous support has given us a chance to provide for them and nurture these talents.”
said Ravi, the warden, who took our volunteers on a tour of their mini plantation, where the boys are trained in skills like agriculture, construction, and fishing.

“Every child deserves to grow up with a sense of security, belonging, and hope. Through this campaign, we are building a foundation for them to dream and aspire to be more than their circumstances.”

Aria Singham, Managing Director of Brickfields Asia College and Uplift volunteer
