Food Aid for Disadvantaged and Marginalised Communities in Selangor and WP Kuala Lumpur

There is a constant and continuous request for food aid from disadvantaged and marginalised communities in Malaysia. UPLIFT works closely with Free Food Society and Food Aid Donors to try and meet the increasing demand for dry food ration to B20 and B40 families on a monthly basis.

However, UPLIFT only manages to meet 40% or less of the requests received.
For 2024, UPLIFT is initiating a Free Makan Food Aid Project to raise funds for these families and help distribute dry food groceries to these families on a monthly basis.
Each family needs items which cost approximately RM 60.00 which can last a family of five for 2 weeks.

List of Items in Each Grocery Bag:

Each family receives groceries which cost RM 50.00 per family and this includes the following items:
  • 5kg bag of rice
  • 1kg cooking oil
  • 1kg sugar
  • 850gm flour
  • 1 packet beehoon
  • 1 packet of Maggi Mee
  • Potatoes 500gm
  • Red Onions 500gm
  • White Garlic 500gm
  • Salt
  • Cream Crackers

Recipients are a multi-racial, multi-ethic groups which include:
  • Women Headed Households
  • B20 and B40 Families at PPRs
  • Low Cost Houses (Estate Houses)
  • Workers who had lost their jobs due to the pandemic
  • Refugees – Myanmar Muslims, Rohingyas, Pakistanis, Afghans, Somalis, Sri Lankans
  • Migrant Workers – Indonesians, Bangladeshis, Nepalis, Pakistanis
  • Orang Asli Communities
