Building Resilience: Stress Management, Leadership, and Effective Communication Skills for School Students
On January 26, 2024, a successful BAC2SCHOOL event was conducted at SMK Sultan Abdul Samad, Petaling Jaya, for about 120 Form 4 students. The session, led by trainers Kumar Nagalingam, Lara, Lalitha, and the BAC Learn Team, focused on Stress Management, Leadership, and Effective Communication Skills.
The language of instruction alternated between Bahasa Malaysia and English, catering to the bilingual proficiency of the students. The session commenced with an energising activity, designed to prepare the students for active participation. This was followed by an engaging exercise highlighting the importance of effective listening in communication.
Throughout the event, the students displayed high levels of engagement and enthusiasm. Although a few students seemed slightly disengaged at times, the majority were actively involved in all activities. One of the key activities demonstrated various stress management techniques, emphasising that individuals have the freedom to choose the method that works best for them.
A significant takeaway from the session was the emphasis on the importance of Group or Team Leadership over Individual Leadership. This lesson aimed to foster a collaborative spirit among the students, encouraging them to work together effectively.
The entire session lasted approximately two hours, from 9:00am to 11:00am. Overall, the event was a fruitful endeavor, providing the students with valuable skills and knowledge to manage stress, communicate effectively, and lead collaboratively.
