Critical Thinking with BAC2School: Helping SMK Puteri Titiwangsa Students Solve Problems
And we're back again with BAC2School! This time, we conducted an interactive workshop on Critical Thinking & Problem Solving at SMK Puteri Titiwangsa. With approximately 120 Form 5 students participating in the event, the workshop was led by Ms. Azrina Che’Lah and supported by trainers Ms. Sharon Amen, Ms. Sumita Kaur, Mr. Thaddeus Gabriel and Mr. Jayaceva (Jay).
The workshop began with a brief introduction by Ms. Azrina, who highlighted the relevance of critical thinking and problem-solving in everyday life and larger societal issues. Students were then divided into 10 groups and engaged in a hands-on activity where they were tasked with answering hypothetical questions designed to stimulate creative problem-solving. Each group was responsible for brainstorming ideas, formulating their solutions, and presenting their findings to their peers.
Hypothetical Questions
Here are the questions that students were asked:
Each group’s response were to showcase their ability to think critically, work collaboratively and engage creatively with the task. Trainers Ms. Sharon, Ms. Sumita and Mr. Thaddeus provided guidance throughout the activity, ensuring students remained focused and encouraged open discussions.
After the group presentations, Ms. Azrina offered feedback and performance scores to each team, helping them reflect on their own critical thinking processes. Ms. Sumita followed up by concluding the session by introducing the students to various courses offered by the BAC Education Group that are designed to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Undoubtedly, the event was a great success! Students were empowered and their skills improved. With an event that offers an interactive and collaborative learning environment that encourages students to think creatively and apply their knowledge to hypothetical yet realistic scenarios, we were proud to witness it in real-time.
Seeing that left both the students and trainers left the session with a sense of accomplishment and inspiration, further solidifying the BAC2School initiative’s mission to foster essential life skills in young learners.
