Empowering Students with Study Skills and Time Management: A Report on BAC2SCHOOL at SMK Puncak Alam 3

On 20th February 2025, the BAC2SCHOOL initiative reached SMK Puncak Alam 3, engaging 300 Form 5 students in an interactive session on Study Skills and Time Management. Led by trainers Kumar Nagalingam, Ms. Lara and Ms. Nurin, the session aimed to equip students with essential academic and life skills to enhance their learning experience.
Developing the Right Mindset for Effective Studying
The workshop opened with a discussion on Study Skills, highlighting the difference between simply studying and mastering effective study techniques. The trainers emphasized that learning should not be about memorization but rather about problem-solving, a skill crucial in any future career. Students were encouraged to view their studies as a means of developing critical thinking abilities, rather than just a requirement for exams.
A unique perspective introduced during the session was the idea of transforming hobbies into meaningful pursuits. By aligning their interests with their academic journey, students can build skills that complement their studies and future careers.
Mastering Time Management for Long-Term Success
Ms. Lara and Ms. Nurin led the Time Management session, which was highly interactive, allowing students to reflect on how they currently spend their time and how they can reprioritize their daily routines for greater productivity.
One of the key strategies shared was the “Eat the Frog” concept, which suggests tackling the most challenging tasks first before moving on to easier ones. By doing so, students can optimize their energy levels and ensure that difficult assignments are handled with a fresh mind.
Conclusion
The session, held from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, marked the first visit of the BAC2SCHOOL program to SMK Puncak Alam 3. It provided students with valuable insights on how to approach their studies strategically while developing time management skills that will benefit them beyond the classroom.
With an emphasis on practical application and self-discipline, the session left students with actionable strategies to improve their academic performance and personal growth. This initiative reflects BAC’s ongoing commitment to empowering students through education.
