Engaging Students for a Brighter Future:

The BAC2School Workshop at SMK Seri Mutiara

On January 18, 2024, SMK Seri Mutiara in Kuala Lumpur hosted an impactful BAC2School workshop designed to equip Form 4 students with essential skills and tools for their upcoming SPM exams. The workshop, conducted by the BAC Education Group (BACEG), featured engaging activities aimed at enhancing communication skills and introducing students to innovative learning platforms.

Workshop Overview

The workshop kicked off with a welcome address by Cikgu Rashidah, who introduced the BACEG team to the 120 participating students. Trainers Chrishnaveni Subramaniam and Azura Abrasid, along with facilitators Aliah Amirrudin (Leya), Firdauz Azman, and Eric Lim, led the students through a series of interactive sessions.

Interactive Sessions and Activities

Ice Breaker and Group Activity:

Chrishnaveni initiated the session with an ice breaker game, organizing the students into 12 groups of 10. The first major activity, "Tallest Tower," challenged the students to work collaboratively in building the tallest tower using limited materials. This activity emphasised critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication. Each group's leader had to relay instructions to their team, demonstrating the importance of clear and concise communication.

Introduction to SPMFlix and BACFlix App:

Aliah Amirrudin introduced the students to SPMFlix, a comprehensive platform designed to aid in SPM preparation. Through the BACFlix app, students can access subject-specific content, practice past year questions, and track their progress. Aliah highlighted the app's user-friendly design and the convenience of accessing educational content on mobile devices.

Balloon Relay Game:

The final activity of the day, led by Azura Abrasid, was the "balloon relay" game. This fun and engaging activity required students to pass a balloon down a line without using their hands, fostering teamwork and creative problem-solving.

Student Engagement and Feedback

Throughout the workshop, the students displayed remarkable enthusiasm and cooperation. The interactive nature of the sessions ensured high levels of participation, with students eagerly engaging in activities and discussions. Notably, 44 students promptly registered on the SPMFlix platform during the session, while others received guides on how to sign up later.

The BAC2School workshop at SMK Seri Mutiara successfully introduced students to valuable resources and skills for their SPM preparation. The activities not only made learning enjoyable but also reinforced the importance of effective communication and teamwork. Workshops like these are instrumental in building students' confidence and fostering a supportive learning environment, paving the way for their academic and future career success.
