Engaging Students in SPM Preparation:
A BAC2School Initiative at SMK (P) Pudu
On 12th March, 2024, an enriching and interactive talk was conducted at SMK (P) Pudu in Kuala Lumpur, focusing on the importance of early preparation for the SPM exams. The session was led by Aliah Amirrudin, Senior Executive in Training and the Project Lead for SPMFlix, alongside facilitator Firdauz Azman and Timothy Chan, CEO of IACT College. This initiative was aimed at students from Form 3, Form 4, and Form 5, drawing nearly 200 participants.
Introduction to SPMFlix and BACFlix App
The primary objective of the talk was to introduce students to SPMFlix, an innovative platform designed to aid in SPM exam preparation. The presentation was delivered in both English and Bahasa Melayu, ensuring clear communication and understanding. The speakers highlighted the critical features of SPMFlix, including Communities, Lesson Videos, SPM in 100 Minutes, KSSM Form 4 content, the SPM Seminar, and Flix – an AI ChatBot designed to assist students.
In addition to SPMFlix, the BACFlix app was also introduced. This app provides a user-friendly interface that allows students to access subject-specific content, practice past year questions, and track their progress. The convenience of using BACFlix on mobile devices was emphasized, showing how it integrates seamlessly into the students' daily routines, making learning accessible anytime and anywhere.
Interactive Session and Student Engagement
The session was marked by high enthusiasm and cooperation from the students. The engaging 15-minute talk was followed by a trivia quiz, which saw active participation from the students. This interaction not only made the session lively but also ensured that the students were attentive and absorbed the information shared.
Positive Feedback and Registration Success
A noteworthy outcome of the session was the prompt registration of 187 students on the SPMFlix platform, facilitated by the registration forms provided during the talk. For the few students who did not register immediately, notepads and flyers from the SPM Seminar were distributed, containing detailed instructions on how to sign up. This ensured that all students had the necessary information to join the platform.
The BAC2SCHOOL talk at SMK (P) Pudu successfully introduced Form 3, 4, and 5 students to the valuable resources available on SPMFlix and BACFlix. The immediate registration of students and their enthusiastic participation in the trivia quiz underscored the effectiveness of the session. This initiative has equipped the students with the tools necessary for effective SPM preparation, setting them on a path to success. The collaborative spirit and engagement witnessed during the session are promising indicators of the positive impact such initiatives can have on students' learning journeys.
