Exploring Futures at
SMK Methodist ACS Klang

On 12 March 2025, over 300 Form 5 students from SMK Methodist ACS Klang took part in the BAC2School programme – a two-part session aimed at equipping them with legal awareness, career insights and real-world problem-solving skills.

The sessions, conducted by Mr. Nathan Tharmalingam, and coordinated by Mr. Jayceva, ran from 8.30am to 12.30pm, with a short break in between. Both sessions were delivered in a mix of English and Malay, allowing better engagement and clarity for the students.

The first part of the programme introduced students to the basics of criminal law and gave them an overview of post-Form 5 education and career pathways. It was designed to help them understand the legal system and make informed choices about their future.

The second activity pushed students to think critically and collaborate. Given a hypothetical end-of-the-world scenario, students were tasked with selecting 10 professionals to represent humanity on a new planet. Working in groups of 10, each team discussed, debated and finally presented their choices to the rest of the hall. The responses were creative, thoughtful and often surprising – a clear reflection of the students' general knowledge and their ability to reason through complex issues.

Throughout both sessions, Mr. Jay and the school’s teacher advisor kept things running smoothly. The sessions were interactive, energetic and thought-provoking. What stood out most was the students’ curiosity. Even after the sessions ended, many stayed back to ask about BAC’s course offerings and seek advice on planning their academic and career paths.

The BAC2School session was more than just an outreach event – it was a meaningful exchange that encouraged students to think about the world they live in and the future they want to build.
