VOLUNTEER PROJECT
PROPOSAL

Launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, FreeMakan.com is a BAC Food Bank initiative dedicated to eradicating food poverty in Malaysia by providing dry rations to communities struggling with hunger and food insecurity.

We have partnered with a network of community-based organisations to meet the immediate needs of underserved communities which include B20 and B40 PPR communities, poorest of the poor (POP), refugees, migrant workers and Orang Asli communities.

When large-scale disasters hit without warning, we bring the public and private sectors together to raise funds quickly and efficiently.

In times of crisis, people in life-and-death situations need our help and our mission is to save and rebuild lives through direct humanitarian action for those hardest to reach and the most vulnerable communities.

The need is great.
Together, we are greater.

Help us ensure that no one gets left behind in these challenging times.

Why us?

By pooling resources to work as one, we have played a pivotal role in coordinating humanitarian assistance and relief efforts to serve the needs of underserved communities in Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India and Nepal.

We make it easy

Under this volunteer programme, UPLIFT and FreeMakan will identify marginalized communities comprising B40 families, refugees, migrants, or undocumented people who are struggling to make ends meet. All you have to do is: collect the food and deliver it.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE
#KitaJagaKita

The objective of this project is two-fold:

  • To combat food poverty and hunger in Malaysia, focusing on marginalized communities such as B40 families, refugees, and migrants, and
  • To provide students with the opportunity to volunteer and support a cause that they are passionate about.

The project aims to achieve this by identifying the marginalised communities and preparing food packs according to their needs and delivering it to the respective communities.

The volunteers will work with the community mobilisers from the community based organisations and the outreach will be documented to show the impact of food aid on poor communities.

This meets the target indicators under SDG1 No Poverty and SDG2 Zero Hunger.

PROPOSAL

Duration: 13 weeks Cost: RM 50 per food pack

Volunteers, who choose this programme, will play a crucial role in raising funds, collecting the recommended food packs from Mydin Hypermarket, and delivering these items on a weekly basis to the identified communities within the Klang Valley region.

1. Fundraising

Volunteers will actively engage in fundraising activities to support the purchase of food packs. This may include online campaigns, organizing donation drives, and seeking corporate sponsorships. These funds will be directed to UPLIFT, who will be responsible for the purchase of the food packs from Mydin Hypermarket.

2. Food Pack Preparation

Volunteers will be responsible for collecting the pre-packed essential food packs from Mydin Hypermarket. These packs are designed to meet the dietary needs of the identified communities. UPLIFT and FreeMakan will work with Mydin to ensure the food packs are ready for collection on the designated dates.

3. Weekly Deliveries:

Volunteers will organize and participate in the weekly deliveries of food packs to the identified communities within the Klang Valley. These deliveries are essential to ensure that those in need receive timely assistance.

4. Monitoring and Reporting:

Volunteers will be responsible for ensuring that the food packs reach the intended recipients. They will also provide UPLIFT with a weekly report with photographic evidence of the deliveries.

5. Certificate of Appreciation:

At the end of the proposed 13-week duration of this volunteer program, FreeMakan/UPLIFT will provide certificates of appreciation to your organization in recognition of the volunteers' outstanding contributions.

Next Steps

Upon confirmation of the participating student count, the number of food packs required each week, and the transfer of funds to UPLIFT, we will initiate the procurement of food packs from Mydin Hypermarket and provide the designated delivery locations on a weekly basis.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need. Together, we can work towards a hunger-free Malaysia and create lasting change for marginalized communities.

We can't wait to hear from you
