Volumetric Infusion Pumps Delivered To Hospital Selayang

On 22nd October 2021, 3 sets of Volumetric Infusion Pumps (VIPs) were delivered to Hospital Selayang. These medical equipment serves to support COVID-19 patients.

The demand for VIPs has increased phenomenally due to the outbreak of COVID-19. It is a medical device that is capable of delivering continuous and controlled amounts of fluids at varying rates, depending on a patient’s need. It is commonly used to control the flow of intravascular drugs, fluids and blood products to patients, accurately and safely.

With the help of a VIP, nurses and doctors are able to programme the pump to deliver fluids at a set time, quantity and rate. This allows for increased efficiency, where patients are able to receive the medical attention needed, without frequent visitations by medical practitioners.

During this pandemic, severely ill COVID-19 patients need multiple medications delivered by infusion pumps and the VIP not just delivers medications to COVID-19 patients, it also reduces a medical practitioner’s risk of exposure to COVID-19.
